Many people now recognize the need to detox their bodies from unnecessary preservatives and additives still routinely used by the food industry. John Mackey’s vision, as founder and CEO of Whole Foods, broadened the desire for more natural and wholesome food in the mainstream population. However, what most people don’t recognize yet, is that we also need to detox our homes. Added chemicals and fillers don’t belong in our food, and they don’t belong in our homes, either. Most of us spend 90 percent of our time inside and indoor air quality means a whole lot more than just cleaning up dust. Toxins don’t only contaminate the cleaning products we use, they’re in the paint on our walls, the carpet under our feet, and the furniture we relax in. We need a detox from our chemical dependency. When consumers demand better products and demand elimination of toxins, industries begin to change how they do things.
